About us

Enger grew out of need for practical and insightful safety services in industry. We believe that our clients are the experts in their work and contain the tools and resources internal of themselves to complete their work in the safest and most effective ways possible. We believe that our success has been created because of our belief in our clients, our default towards efficiency, workability and practicality.

We practice safety and management generally from a different perspective than many in the industry. We look at things this way;

Safety is the presence of positives and not the absence of negatives. We don’t believe that people are safe just because they don’t have accidents. We believe people are safe because of their capacity to do work in a complex and changing work environment.

• We don’t constrain workers in order to create safety, we ask workers what they need to do work safely, reliably and productively. We believe that our clients are the experts at their work and if we empower them to do well, safety improvement will follow.

• Error is normal, the best of our people make mistakes, and we need to be building work to tolerate this. We know that we’re all human, and that no one person will work for their whole career without making a mistake or having an accident.

• Blame stops improvement. By disciplining and punishing people for mistakes and accidents we stop the ability for our organizations to learn and improve.

• Learning is vital. We need to be learning all the time, from as much of our work as we possibly can. We see the purpose of investigations to be learning, we don’t see investigations as a means of punishment but as an opportunity for improvement.

• How we respond to failure matters. If we respond to errors and events negatively then we can expect to have information, learning and improvement to diminish.
